| Synopsis: 1990 (post Fantastic Four (Vol I) #2: Patrick Carney discusses the formation of the Fantastic Four with Pixie and Ikaris, he then tells them his origin. He goes on to say he wishes he'd time-jumped to the Skrull Invasion when his generation of heroes was killed. Pixie suggests he makes a comeback as the Yankee Clipper, but Patrick says it isn't time. They leave the cafe and walk down the street still discussing the past. Pixie says who remembers the First Line now, Patrick replies we do, he then tells them the Mr. Justice planted Cassandra's legacy on the Apollo Lander and he hopes the information gets to the people she wanted it to. Pixie says they'll have to make sure it does. 1955: Patrick Carney is an engineer assigned to a Government Facility down south, after a few months he is shown Operation "Deep Freeze" - he can't believe it when he's shown the fourth Captain America and third Bucky in suspended animation. When he asks if there are plans for another set of replacements he is told no. Agent Jacob Scott is given the fourth Captain America's shield and told that Patrick Carney thinks they should recruit another Captain America. When he's by himself Jacob Scott transforms himself into Captain America, but changes his mind saying he could never become America's greatest hero. On the way back from the lab, Patrick Carney swings off the road to avoid running over a person who's just appeared in the road. He goes over to see who is it and meets Dr. Cassandra Locke (from the explosion in Issue 3). He carries her to the nearest hospital but it turned away as Dr. Locke is black. A young girl gives him the keys to her car and he drives Cassandra to another hospital, on the way there she tells him about the future, about the Skrull peace mission in the 22nd Century, the Apollo 11 moon landing, etc. They arrive at the hospital but it's too late and she dies. The Doctor comes out and gives Patrick Carney Cassandra's belt and he becomes the Yankee Clipper. 1986: The Yankee Clipper arrives from the temporal anomaly (in Issue 4) in Manhatten. He discovers that he'd been missing for 20 years. He wanders around for a while looking at the fashions and then he discovers Ronald Reagan is President. It's at this moment he sees Mr. Justice heading into trouble, he puts his costume on and joins the fight. After the fight Mr. Justice has a go at him for wearing the costume of the Yankee Clipper, that is until Patrick Carney reveals himself to his brother Tim. Tim takes Patrick's reappearance well and his punches Patrick in the face before breaking down and crying. Tim takes Patrick to meet Robert Paine, Patrick is shocked by how old Robert is. Tim suggests Patrick go back in time to change everything, but Patrick says no. Robert Paine gives him some money and Patrick sets off to the old family cabin. Once he leaves Robert's appartment he is met by Pixie (who has arrived at Robert's request). By the end of the year he'd worked out how to time jump forward, and he did to just before the formation of the Fantastic Four. The 22nd Century: Pixie is in court accused of plotting against the attempts of the Skrull Empire to forge a lasting peace between the Skrulls and the Human. Gene and Dr. Alex Locke arrive an announce Ambassador Zorn's peace mission is based on revisionist lies. He presents Cassandra's evidence to the court and Pixie promises Dr. Alex Locke they'll find Cassandra's grave. |
